Eva Duerden: fickle contingents

9 – 16 April, 2026
Vernissage – Thu 9 April 2026, 18:00 – 21:00

Turning Space presents of new series of works by Eva Duerden that conjure a sense of domestic history within our Altbau-esque space on Wrangelstrasse. Both difficult to contend with and unexpectedly generous, the artworks in fickle contingents surface questions around value through the materials and compositions themselves: some position themselves as static and trustworthy; others feel far more flippant and volatile.

OPEN CONVERSATION>

#1 Between Frames with Eva Duerden

Sat 11 April 2026
15:30 – Doors open / drinks and snacks
16:00 – 17:00 Let’s talk

Turning Space invites creatives, writers, and thinkers from across disciplines to join an open and informal conversation examining the constructed borders between art and design, and how their aesthetic and cultural value is framed, manufactured, and circulated. At a time when the cultural sphere increasingly intersects with branding, design economies, and monetised identities, we invite those working in and around these fields to contribute to a shared discussion.

>RSVP

The conversation will move through questions such as:
ø the aesthetics of bootlegging and fakery, and the role of translation and misinterpretation
ø how authenticity is constructed, and how cultural artefacts are framed for value — economically, symbolically, and socially
ø how practices that overlap categorisation, through acts of translation, role-play, or subversion, might unsettle fixed frames of meaning in the present moment

This conversation takes place in the context of Eva Duerden’s exhibition fickle contingents at Turning Space.

*Drinks and snacks provided.*
*Attendance is free, but capacity is limited — please RSVP to info@turning.space *

The event takes place at Turning Space, Wrangelstrasse 66, 10997, Berlin

TALK>
Futures in Friction

Sat 23 May, 2026

Full details to follow

Turning Space’s ongoing enquiry Futures in Friction explores how we live with uncertainty — socially, ecologically, emotionally — in ways that are unevenly distributed and unequally endured. Resisting the idea of the future as singular or linear, this talk will aspire to approach it as plural, entangled, and shaped by histories of extraction, resistance, and responsibility.
